Berkshire Conservation Volunteers are a voluntary group carrying out conservation tasks at a variety of nature reserves across Berkshire and north Hampshire. No prior experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm. Task: Clearing scrub on open heath and cutting gaps through scrub to open up the Gelvert stream.

Meet at: 10-15am at the site. Meet at the entrance to the site off the Aldershot Road. Head south from Fleet on the B3013 to Church Crookham. At a roundabout turn left into Aldershot Road. Meet at: 10:15 at the site (Grid Ref SU840660). Head west from the junction of the A3095 and B3430 (Nine Mile Ride) south of Bracknell. At the next roundabout turn right. In about 200m turn left into the site. Park in the carpark, and follow the arrows to the worksite (somewhere in the woods behind the leisure centre buildings and allotments). Take care crossing the (minature) railway if the steam trains are running! The pond is behind the allotments at the left hand end of the car park.

Just before you get to the roundabout at the junction of the A4 and A340 turn left into a minor road signposted towards Padworth. Follow this road for approximately 2 miles. The car park is on the right just before you reach the T-junction with the Burghfield Common to Tadley Road.

Task: Removing birch scrub from the heathland in an area of the site called Bricksbury Hill. This is the southern part of the same MoD training area that Long Valley and Velmead Common are part of.
