Reading Borough Council Sites
A stretch of grassland & woodland on a west facing slope running through central Caversham.
One of several areas of deciduous woodland in Tilehurst.
This site consists of two woods, Clayfield Copse and Blackhouse Wood, and some adjacent fields, all on the northern edge of Caversham. The woods are home to various wildlife, including roosts of both Noctule and Daubenton's bats. Some of our work has had the aim of protecting these roosts. The remainder of our work has involved widening the rides to allow more of the ground flora to spring up, and removing the non native sycamore trees to allow the wood to regenerate with native trees.
